Senior Communications Advisor

Would you like to work as part of a team of communication professionals within the exciting Submarines division of BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Communications Advisor at our site in Barrow.

As a Senior Communications Advisor, you will form part of the wider internal communications team and be tasked with duties such as strategic communications advice and stakeholder management. The role is varied and exciting, allowing you to be a part of one of the UK’s largest and most challenging defence programmes.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to build a fantastic stakeholder network and where appropriate support other functional activities, including external communications, site visits and events.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Communications Advisor will involve:

Providing professional advice to the business in support of key business objectives

Developing and managing relationships with key internal stakeholders, up to and including company directors

Developing and delivering communications plans in support of business objectives

Organising and planning communications briefings and events in support of business objectives

Coordinating, collating and draft inputting for internal and/or external communications activity – sourcing quality content from the business and maximising its use through different creative media/communications channels

Continually seeking opportunities for improvement

Applying a good working knowledge of communications policies, brand guidelines and governance processes

Your skills and qualifications:

Degree and/or relevant professional certificate or equivalent experience

A good understanding of the role of communications within business internal communications

A good understanding of core communications principles, techniques and skills

Ability to persuade and influence through effective communications

Excellent written and oral skills

Experience of work in large, complex organisations with a broad range of internal stakeholders desirable
