Would you like to play a key role leading, coaching and managing a multi skilled diverse team, delivering our products and services safely, to time, cost and quality? We currently have a vacancy for a Slinger Team Leader at our site in Portsmouth.
As a Slinger Team Leader (Appointed Person) you will be responsible for control lifting operations in your designated working area, managing a team of Slingers and AP personnel.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a diverse area of the business, where every day is different. Whilst challenging, the role is rewarding and will allow you to work across functions, with opportunity to progress within the business.
Your main responsibilities as a Slinger Team Leader will involve:
Managing various tasks and teams, working to time scales and budgets
Reviewing tasks to ensure they have been completed to required standards which will result in robust right first time work acceptance performance
Organising and control all lifting operations within their area of control
Ensuring the preparation of, and to authorise, Complex Lifting Plans when required and to seek advice and assistance when necessary
Authorising all Complex Lifting Plans and Standard Lift Plans including Initial Lift Plans for Standard Lifts
Consulting with designers, clients and others with specialised knowledge and experience when relevant to ensure the safety of the lifting operation
Ensuring that any individual undertaking lifting operations must be sure that the individual concerned is trained in the lifting operation that they are to undertake and that their training qualifications are in date
Carrying out Risk Assessment and Method Statements, requiring functional knowledge and managing safely (SHE knowledge)
Must have experience in lifting operations (slinging and fleeting), qualified as an Appointed Person (AP) and Slinger as well as having suitable practical, theoretical knowledge and experienced to fully understand all aspects of lifting operations
Knowledge and experience of providing technical support to team as required to enable resolution to problems that will be encountered during delivery phases
Demonstratable experience of high levels of SHE behaviours and knowledge to promote safety awareness, risk management and compliance
Experience of leading a continuous improving culture within teams
Ability to run complex mini projects whilst effectively deploying resources, demonstrating numerical, analytical and time management skills
Strong technical ability in an Operations discipline
Experience using technical and business expertise to establish solutions to production challenges that will enable reliable delivery performance
You will be a proactive and agile individual and a positive role model. This will allow you to effectively engage with all members of the team in order to create an open and trusting environment through both written and verbal communication, whilst assessing multiple sources of information to establish solutions to production problems to ensure agreed deliverables are achieved.
Furthermore, you will have excellent collaboration skills with various internal and external stakeholders and will be demonstrated through your ability to liaise cross functionally.
