Are you looking for new challenging role? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager (Planning) at our site in Barrow in Furness.

As a Senior Project Manager (Planning), you will be working as a part of The Dreadnought programme. This programme is being delivered under a new Alliance construct formed between the Ministry of Defence’s Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce.

This Alliance has been formed as a result of recommendations outlined in the Strategic Defence Security Review (SDSR) 2015 to harness effective working relationships with industrial partners to improve performance. This is being done through new commercial arrangements between government and industry and a dedicated organisation.

This role will provide you with possibility to work in one of the world’s leading global defence, security and aerospace companies. We work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Manager (Planning) will involve:

Leading on functional planning support for the Dreadnought Alliance

Developing project planning systems, policies and standards to ensure compliance across all projects

Facilitating 'best for programme' decision making for senior Alliance leaders

Leading on the creation of the integrated schedules and ongoing management of the interfaces between all the component schedules and associated products/artefacts

Assurance of the quality of the inputs of the inputs to form that plan

Regular progress reporting and analysis, including identification of slippage or potential risk to schedule adherence

Continual improvement of the quality and coherency of the schedules

Your skills and qualifications:


Advanced P6 Experience.

Worked on complex programme comprising of multiple parties/partners

Leadership of multi-party planning team which includes virtual teams

Extensive experience of analysing and modelling schedule data

Experience of developing planning capability


Understanding of Risk and Cost processes

Project Management and Project Delivery

APM Certified

Creating Comprehensive Project Reports

Maritime – Submarines
