Project Leader – Strategy and Performance Analysis

Would you like to work within the Engineering Function of BAE Systems Maritime Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer – Performance at our site in Barrow.

The role will provide you with the opportunity to drive improvements in engineering effectiveness and efficiency across the business, principally through: producing the comprehensive articulation of the business' Engineering resource demands; informing and taking actions which allow for its supply; and partaking in and delivering business improvement initiatives. You will develop and maintain a complete suite of Engineering Norms for use across all major programmes and support good decision making.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer – Performance will involve:

    The methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of engineering to define the requirements for operational improvement, reduction of costs, enhancement of sustainable performance, and the quantification of potential business benefits.

      The adoption and adaptation of business analysis approaches based on the context of the work and selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.

        The adoption of lean six sigma practices to lead the development of ways of working, with emphasis on the of improvement of effectiveness and efficiency.

          Condensing and encapsulating the characteristics of data, making it easier to surface opportunities, identifying risks and analysing trends, to drive effective decision-making.

            Presenting findings and data insights in creative ways to facilitate the understanding of data across a range of technical and non-technical audiences.

              Providing assured quality and meaningful insight-based reporting.

                Bringing others together to establish, develop and maintain engineering analytics – measures, metrics, dashboards, balance scorecard…

                  Monitoring and maintaining tracking of strategic objective performance and outcomes.

                    Identifying improvement opportunities to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

                    Line Management Responsibilities such as:

                    To provide leadership, support and coaching to all within your line of responsibility. Manage the performance (including quarterly PDRs) for employees within your line of responsibility. To encourage, by example, all matters relating to good discipline and timekeeping, and to actively manage situations where expected personal performance standards are not met for all within your line of responsibility.

                    Your skills and qualifications:

                      Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics degree or equivalent experience within engineering or manufacturing discipline.

                        Demonstrable experience of working within complex business', on major programmes.

                          Ability to engage with multiple specialisms.

                            Demonstrable experience of business improvement, performance management and analytics.

                              Business Analysis diploma or equivalent experience within manufacturing, engineering (desirable).

                                Lean Six Sigma qualification.
