Skills Training Manager

Do you have the skills and passion to effectively manage the development and delivery of Skills Training whilst inspiring a culture of continuous quality improvement and the delivery of service excellence?

If so, we currently have a vacancy for a Skills Training Manager at our sites in Scotstoun and Govan, Glasgow.

As a Skills Training Manager, you will be responsible for directly managing a team of Skills Leaders and Coaches to ensure the successful design, planning, delivery and support of learners with a focus on delivering outstanding outcomes for learners and providing the effective up-skilling and re-skilling of workforce competencies within the business.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to make the role your own, lead your team and contribute to the design and set up of a new training academy.

Your main responsibilities as a Skills Training Manager will involve:

Leading the Skills Training Team to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the Skills Training interventions

Managing the relationship with the Business and key Functions to ensure delivery solutions are both timely and effective

Developing the team to deliver training in an inspiring way, ensuring staff are occupationally competent, trained and qualified to operate

Delivering quality, compliance, safety, safeguarding and welfare aspects of the Skills Training activity

Undertaking effective resource planning to ensure timely delivery of skills training programmes

Managing utilisation to optimum effectiveness and demonstrate value for money

Developing and continuously improving the Skills Training activity, introducing new offerings in line with business needs

Supervising the adherence of all training documentation and engineering procedures

Ensuring current and future training is developed and delivered to a standard which is auditable and focuses on building future curriculums

Line Management for a team of Skills Leaders and Planner

Being accountable for the effective leadership engagement with the Business and key Functions in relation to Skills Training and demand planning

Your skills and qualifications:


Extensive experience of delivering training programmes within a regulated environment which is underpinned by expert knowledge of standards, registration and certification processing, monitoring quality and audit compliance whilst retaining centre approval status

Team Leadership Experience

Effective leadership and management and track record of managing a skills training provision

Working within training and education with a sound knowledge of QAA inspection frameworks with the ability to produce accurate reports, procedures, standards and specifications that identify requirements for change and improvements

Broad knowledge requirement across the portfolio of Skills Training provision


Level 4 Teaching certificate or equivalent

Level 4 Leadership and Management Qualifications

Assessor & Verifier awards

You will have excellent communication and influencing skills with strong stakeholder relationship management & change management skills. You will be highly organised, able to prioritise conflicting requirements and have strategic focus. You can demonstrate experience of developing and sustaining performance data to drive business opportunities and continuous improvement.
