Senior Software Engineer - Edge Platform

What you'll do
You will be responsible for development of features beginning with examining a problem, moving on to team discussion and design of a solution, and then implementing the solution with a focus on quality, scalability, and resilience. We own the first few jumps any request to an Expedia website makes, and it's critical that we're confident in what we're doing and are able to confirm our confidence with data.
As well as technical problem solving, you'll also be encouraged to mentor junior members and help them grow. This will take many forms: group code reviews, pairing on problems, and leading investigations of production issues. Our team has a strong focus on maintaining both breadth and depth of skills, which requires constant learning and sharing.
Who you are
5-8 yrs of software development experience including development of web applications
3-5 yrs experience using Java, Kotlin
Proven success using Java development environment (Spring a plus)
Proficient in programming concepts and web technologies (Java, Kotlin and scripting)
Knowledge of SQL and the ability to read and understand data models and relational databases
Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical details and build test methodologies for it
Experience with performance-critical web applications and support
Deep understanding of browser/web server communication and concepts
Experience supporting the infrastructure and deployment pipelines of applications (Docker and Terraform a plus)
Experience in Agile methodology
Experience working with AWS products (e.g. EC2, ECS, Kinesis), a plus
Excellent problem solving and strong interpersonal skills
BA/BS degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience
