Apprentice and Skills Development Coach – Engineering
Are you an experienced Engineering professional looking to grow and develop the next generation of BAE Systems employees? We currently have an opportunity to join the Early Careers team as an Apprentice and Skills Development Coach – Engineering at our site in Samlesbury.
As Apprentice and Skills Development Coach (Engineering), you will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices that engage and inspire apprentices to fulfil their individual potential and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to successfully progress into the business. You will be responsible for delivering to Level 3/ 4 Apprentices within the Air Sector regarding the Engineering Lifecycle.
These roles will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the team that works out of BAE System’s multi-million pound Academy for Skills and Knowledge in Samlesbury and will also require you to travel to our Warton site.
We invest £90m into our Early Careers and Skills Programmes annually, with 2,000 Apprentice learners currently in the UK.
Your main responsibilities as an Apprentice and Skills Development Coach – Engineering will involve:
Enacting effective programme delivery that utilises a coaching and blended learning pedagogy to train, monitor, develop and assess apprentices against relevant qualification Standards/ frameworks in support of them attaining occupational competence.
Effectively recording/reporting of performance data in support of delivery outstanding outcomes for learners.
Coaching and Developing of employees and learners through off-the job training courses, welfare support and careers guidance to aid their progression, attainment and transition into the business.
Ensuring a Safety First culture is embedded in all activities or courses delivered to employees & learners
Embedding modern learning practice such as skills competitions and problem based learning as an integral part of the learning and assessment programme.
Developing programme content and teaching, learning and assessment methodologies to meet individual learner and business needs.
Providing and monitoring the effective safeguarding, SHE, welfare and support arrangements for learners whilst on Early Careers & Skills programmes
Coaching and developing learners through progress reviews, welfare support and careers guidance to aid their progression, attainment and transition into the business.
Your skills and qualifications:
Experience of one or more of the 7 stages of the Engineering Lifecycle (V); Concept Development, Requirements Engineering, System Architecture, System Design & Development, System Integration, Test & Evaluation, and/or Transition Operation & Maintenance.
Assessor Qualification (highly desirable)
Apprenticeship with an HNC as a minimum within an Engineering discipline
An enhanced DBS will be required as part of the role
Effective coaching and mentoring skills

You will have strong and effective interpersonal skills specifically when dealing with welfare, support and safeguarding issues.
The ability to communicate effectively and influential interpersonal skills when dealing with customers.
Salary: £34,588 + dependent on qualifications and experience
