Production Planning Manager

An opportunity exists within Production Delivery UK for a Production Planning Executive to lead, manage and coach all Operational Planning activities across Typhoon and Hawk Manufacturing lines across Warton and Samlesbury sites.

As a Production Planning Manager, you will be involved in a broad range of activities focusing significantly on schedule and cost performance, minimising business impact of change and contract reporting all within a fast paced manufacturing environment.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work closely to Typhoon and Hawk Aircraft, working closely with the senior management team in PDUK Operations and to develop yourself and your career within the wider BAES business in the UK and overseas.

Your main responsibilities as a Production Planning Manager will involve:

Delivering the Customer Programmes in line with contract/planning requirements for Typhoon and Hawk Major Units, Electrics, Final Assembly, including the evaluation and embodiment of all changes to the factory systems where appropriate.

Determining the production capacity needed by each area to be able to discharge the operational plans taking into account labour, utilisation, budgets, man to machine ratios and other constraints.

Monitoring, reporting and challenging performance and drive corrective recovery actions when off plan.

Evaluating and Controlling the embodiment of change (including unplanned work) minimising overall business impact. Recommendations are made within the extended team based on a compromise between operational impact, programme impact, risk and resultant cost.

Managing the payment milestone schedule and sales programmes for Manufacturing on behalf of the Contract Owner.

Integrating the MAI IBP assumptions into operational plans particularly with regards to resourcing across each Manufacturing Operations department.

Project management of Manufacturing related non-recurring activities such as bespoke scheduling, pre-production readiness and mobilisation activities etc.

Representing, managing and facilitating all external reporting demands for Manufacturing.

Providing a cost reporting/interrogation service for the Manufacturing/Airframe Businesses.

Relationship building and Stakeholder Management - across various levels of the organisation, across all lines of business and across all internal functional disciplines as well as external links to other functions and stakeholders

Process Development & Documentation – responsible for process development and continuous improvement activities across Operational Planning.

Your skills and qualifications:

Extensive experience within Manufacturing, coupled with experience of leading a professional team, discharging technically difficult business processes.

Qualified to a Degree or master’s level in appropriate field, or possess equivalent experience.

Ability to translate complex requirements and planning; including commercial and contractual requirements - into understandable language and mediums to enable transparent understanding across the senior management team, lower level teams and supply chain

The role demands high levels of stakeholder management and influencing of senior members of the organisation, possessing the ability to develop solutions independently as well as with other teams and functions

In depth understanding of scheduling principles, concepts, practices and standards and knowledge of industry practices with experience of their practical application

Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems and make clear, effective recommendations, referring to established precedents and policies as appropriate

Ability to perform effectively under general direction only, and to plan and prioritise objectives and tasks to meet tight deadlines

Experience with project management toolsets and understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).

Strong IT Skills, including MS applications (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
