Route Services is a division of Network Rail, formed to provide our routes with services and supplies that they need in order to maintain and deliver a better railway for a better Britain. We work with our customers to provide them with the safest, most cost-efficient and effective services enabling them to benefit from economies of scale and optimised national resources.
Supply Chain Operations
This opportunity sits in Supply Chain Operations (SCO), a division of Route Services that procures safe, sustainable, products and services that are in turn used to improve and enhance the rail infrastructure across Britain. SCO aims to deliver excellent value and service to our customers, helping the rail industry to work together to deliver a more cost-effective railway.
Our extensive supply chain network plays a crucial role in helping to run a safe and efficient railway.
Every year we:
- Buy and deliver 2,000km of rail and 2.5 million tonnes of ballast.
- Operate 1,200 rail vehicles.
Behind the scenes we:
- Process £7,000,000,000 of payments.
- Handle over 23,000 IT helpdesk calls.
- Mechanical and electrical locking fitters maintain 468 signal boxes and 387 ground frames.
- Operational property helpdesk process over 200,000 calls.
Lead and manage a Maintenance delivery team in the maintenance, overhaul, repair and modification activities of assets safely and within budget.
About the role (External)
1.Lead a Maintenance team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures.
2.Monitor and achieve the budgetary requirements set by the Senior Fleet Maintenance Manager
3.Implementation the delivery of safety, asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency improvement initiatives and undertake an agreed programme of safety tours, L1's, staff surveillance and work quality
4.Achieve the delivery of the inspection and maintenance of assets to standards, whilst prioritisation work and delivery to plan.
5.Monitor the consistent use of safe systems of work including applicable risk assessments to drive a consistent safety culture includinginvestigating, reporting and actioning of incidents.
6.Implement and monitor improvement plans to eradicate unplanned failures and drive maintenance effectiveness across the teams.
7.Collate data and report on deferrals and manage any actions which may arise to deliver a safe and compliant fleet and supply technical input to support asset renewals proposals.
8.Implementing action plans and report non-conformance to control to non aberrance to safety, assurance, compliance, performance and business processes.
9.Maintain the delivery of competence management and assessment of maintenance staff including planning training, assessment and verification to safely complete maintenance tasks.
10.Undertake investigations and report on accidents/incidents.
Work to the controls and best practises in place for environmental, health and wellbeing including fatigue and depot safety to establish a positive working culture.
