Overview of job
We are looking for a first-class, senior Marketing professional to lead our Commercial Marketing function as we take Global on the next step of its journey

As our business continues to grow and expand, how we bring to life Global’s combined offering across Radio & Entertainment, Outdoorand Daxto our media agency, outdoor specialist and client partners is more critical than ever.

Our new Director of Commercial Marketing will lead the team that understands Global’s commercial opportunities and priorities, productises and simplifies our portfolio, and activates initiatives that stimulate demand in the market that, ultimately, drive revenue into the business.

The successful candidate will come with a track record of stellar B2B Marketing, innate understanding of the media landscape, a proven leadership of diverse teams and will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment.

In the first few months, you would have

  • Developed and demonstrated an understanding of Globa’s commercial model, the role Marketing plays and the value it can generate

Responsibilities of the role

  • Lead, inspire and motivate a team of 16 people across the following functions:

National Trade Marketing

Regional Trade Marketing

Commercial Marketing Operations

Commercial CRM and Online Marketing

  • Work with your team to develop plans that align with our Commercial objectives and that stimulate demand for Global’s products / solutions

  • Develop marketing propositions that simplify our (sometimes complex!) product sets in ways that excite the market and bring new and bigger briefs into Global

  • Be a trusted peer and adviser to the Commercial Directors and Chief Commercial Officer on how we maximise our B2B Marketing impact that helps them achieve our business goals

  • Work closely with Global’s Insights team to (i) ensure our Commercial Marketing messaging is based on consumer, commercial and industry truths and (ii) turn data and insight into actionable solutions that help our clients and agency partners grow

  • Bring innovation and a creative flair to our B2B Marketing output that stands Global out as head-and-shoulders above the rest of the media industry

  • Manage and optimise a £1M+ Trade Marketing budget to ensure resources are allocated in the right areas that deliver on our Commercial objectives and generate clear ROI.

  • Finally, be a trusted and valued of the broader Marketing Management Team, bringing collaboration, insight and ideas that further pushes Global’s Marketing agenda

What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proven B2B Marketing leader and/or media industry expert, capable of the following:

  • Leading and galvanising diverse teams and developing brilliant talent

  • Track record of exceptional delivery across B2B Marketing, preferably coupled with an innate understanding of the UK media industry. Experience of B2C Marketing is not mandatory but will be looked upon as a further strength

  • Commercially astute with a clear understanding of how Global generates revenue and the role of Marketing within this

  • Extensive and varied senior stakeholder management, across multiple business functions, especially working closely with Sales/Commercial teams

  • Working in a fast-paced environment and very comfortable with ambiguity

  • A doer and decision-maker as well as a delegator

  • Great communication, influencing and negotiation skills at all levels, internally and externally

  • Brilliant at planning and highly organised

  • Personal resilience

  • A desire and hunger for continuous learning of best practice
