Role: Trade Marketing Manager - Product

Reporting To: Head of National Trade Marketing

Overview of job

The mission of Marketing at Global is to create, nurture and grow some of the UK’s most loved media brands in order to help Global achieve its immediate business goals, as well as making sure we embrace a brave, new digital future

The Commercial Marketing Team has a B2B (Business to Business) responsibility to bring the Global Brand to life for Marketing Stakeholders at the world’s leading brands, Media agencies and Outdoor Specialist agencies via a range of marketing channels and disciplines.

The role of the Trade Marketing Manager - Product is to lead a team of four people to create new and innovative ways to bring to life the wide range of products that Global sell across Radio & Entertainment, Outdoor and Dax. Working closely with the Senior Commercial leadership team, and the Marketing Activation & content team, this fantastic role gives the candidate the opportunity to create truly unique market propositions by combining household names like Capital, Heart, Radio X, Classic FM with our market leading billboard and London Underground outdoor estate.

Measures of success –

In the first few months, you would have

  • Set our product marketing strategy for 2021 alongside the leadership team
  • Established the new integrated product marketing team
  • Led the development of the Global Commercial Upfronts narrative


Responsibilities of the role

  • Work with the Product heads, Insight & Research and the Data teams, to get a deeper understanding of the strengths & weaknesses of all our products including Outdoor, Radio & DAX
  • Develop internal relationships with key Commercial stakeholders to get a clear understanding of the business needs of Global and create product marketing strategies that satisfy these needs
  • Co-ordinate the right mix of the 4ps (Product, Price, Place & Promotion) to develop Marketing plans, with measurable objectives and guide the team to develop those product launches
  • Build external relationships with Agency & Specialist peers to understand the challenges they are facing and how we can help create innovate solutions using the breadth of our Radio, Outdoor and DAX portfolio
  • Responsible for developing the core narrative of our product proposition and producing suitable sales collateral for the sales team in the form of Keynote, One Pagers, FAQ docs, quizzes etc…
  • Work very closely with the Marketing Activation & content Team and Commercial Design to develop compelling marketing campaigns to support the commercial narrative delivered by the sales team
  • Work closely with the ‘Learning @ Global’ and the Product Strategy Team to develop internal product training plans to help arm the sales team with everything they need for client meetings, briefings and inspiration sessions
  • Day to day sales team pitch strategy and support
  • Deliver regular and ad hoc reporting in a timely and efficient manner
  • Build and maintain great business partner relationships across your relevant area and with external clients
  • Clear understanding of budget constraints for all work
  • Delivered all work to the highest possible quality output in line with Global brand guidelines and copywriting excellence


What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

  • Ability to lead, inspire and guide a team of Marketing Execs
  • Digital savvy, with a keen desire and ability to use and integrate new technologies and systems into the Marketing function
  • Strong track record of adopting new technologies into role
  • At least 6 years working experience in commercial marketing role, in a medium size company/multinational environment, preferably B2B
  • Must have strong MS Office (or Mac equivalent) skills and be ideally be familiar with, TGI, Mintel, Aureus/Route, Touchpoints etc
  • Experience of working with Salesforce and/or integrated Marketing Automation software vital
  • Applies the principles and techniques of project planning to manage multiple projects and work streams. Able to work effectively without reliance upon hierarchical management structures
  • Knowledge of media market and specifically of Outdoor, Radio and/or Digital
  • Strong communication skills with a diverse audience
  • Able to identify potential problems, evaluate a range of solutions and put measures in place to overcome them
  • Experience in outdoor media will be looked upon favourably
