Brief Description

This is an exciting time to join Network Rail in a time of transition with the Putting Passengers First programme. This plan is to provide the best possible service for passengers and freight users, to deliver the promises we've made for Control Period Six (CP6), and to improve the way we work together and with the industry.

You will be part of the NW&C Region which consist of three routes:

  • North West Route, covering Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria.
  • Central Route, covering the West Midlands and Chiltern areas.
  • West Coast Mainline South Route*, covering the West Coast main line south of Crewe to London Euston.

As we enter CP6, a new five-year period of investment, we will be embarking on a dynamic range of performance improvement plans and projects. If you are passionate about performance, analysis and improvement, by joining our team you will love what you do.

As Technical clerk, you'll support a diverse team with vital technical and administrative support. It's a dynamic role spanning everything from data collection and analysis through to vehicle management.

Every single day, you'll be responsible for providing a range of important technical and administrative support to a diverse team. Working closely with senior members of staff, you will take a dedicated approach to providing a high quality service.

About the role (External)

We'll expect you to:

  • locate and collate all kinds of data, records and other important information
  • Carry out useful analysis
  • present data in support of recommended actions
  • You'll also maintain and review publications and logs.

Your wide range of administrative duties will include everything from minute taking through to leading technical plans. You'll even play a role in vehicle management. This is an excellent entry point into the DEAM environment where you can learn from the expert team around you to progress your career. The career opportunities and possible routes are near endless.

Essential Criteria

  • Good analytical and administrative skills
  • IT literate
  • Knowledge of the relevant technical function and its activities
  • Good communication and organisation skills
