About us

This role sits in Route Services, a business area that has been created to supply services to the routes in the safest, most cost-efficient and effective way, enabling them to benefit from economies of scale and optimised national resources.

Working in the Route Services IT Team, you will provide our customers with smart technology for the railway of today, designing fit-for-purpose and innovative solutions. Your vital work will help to manage the day-to-day running of our vast IT estate, from safety critical systems maintenance to hardware provision, supporting thousands of employees every day.

The role

An opportunity for 2x Low Code Developer Supports to join our team on a job share basis.

We are looking for 2 people to work 17.5 hours each

As a Low Code Developer Support, you'll assist in the design, development and maintenance of low-code solutions for Digital Factory customers, under the guidance of the Low Code Developer.To provide low-code advice on the relevant platforms to customers to provide solutions that meet business requirements.

Key Accountabilities

What will you be doing?

    Prototype and build mock-ups of new applications that conform to Digital Factory build standards, to enable customers to visualise end products as early in the lifecycle as possible.

      Identify key requirements and customer use cases for the proposed development to enable the rapid delivery of low code digital products through engagement in customer meetings.

        Design, validate, develop, implement and maintain low-code solutions for Digital Factory customers using low code platforms in order to deliver solutions to the business in an expediated manner.

          Provide technical support for Network Rail's low code applications and infrastructure and investigate and document fixes within the support system to minimise non-availability of applications to customers.

            Produce and maintain technical and user documentation for delivered low code solutions, so that the product is supportable by internal and external technical support teams and decisions can be made using valid information.

              Provide advice and solutions to business problems using the low code tools available within the Digital Factory, supporting the implementation and identification of additional components that may provide further benefit.

                Research best practise in the design and implementation of low code platforms, technologies and trends, so that organisational knowledge is kept up to date as tools and techniques mature and change, enabling the delivery of current, functional low code solutions.

                  Provide expertise on low code platforms whilst collaborating with Digital Factory colleagues, end-users and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvement of the tools and reports delivered by the development team.

                  Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

                  Do you meet the following criteria?


                    Qualification in relevant degree, or equivalent relevant experience.

                      Development experience using Office 365 Forms and PowerApps.

                        Demonstrable experience designing and developing low code solutions.

                          Experience of accessing data programmatically and knowledge of data structures.

                            Knowledge of emerging low code technologies and trend and their relevance and application in a corporate environment.

                              Appreciation of software testing techniques during a delivery lifecycle.

                                Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

                                  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, having the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.


                                    Awareness of the Agile methodology lifecycle.

                                      Understanding of software testing.
