Senior Electrical Engineer (Engineering Support Group)

Would you like to work in a challenging role within Type 45 working across all electrical aspects? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Electrical Engineer at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising and providing technical guidance to a team of four engineers in support of Royal Navy led Refit Support Group (RSG) and Maintenance Support Unit (MSU). The role will carry out and lead daily UMMS tasks, CAT ‘A’ maintenance on various Type 45 equipment’s, including fault analysis, repair defects and carryout STOROB activities during Type 45 upkeep periods. The role is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with BAE Systems SHE policies and procedures.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to develop a brand new team within Type 45 and maintaining standards electrically ensuring operational capability and readiness for sea. It is also an opportunity to develop within the Type 45 COM with opportunities within BAE

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Electrical Engineer are as follows:

Responsible for supervising and providing technical guidance to a team of four engineers

Liaises closely with Royal Navy and MOD staff to co-ordinate activities where BAE are taking the lead.

Carry out daily UMMS tasks and CAT ‘A’ maintenance

Maintain and report on a regular basis the material state of the ship

Carryout defect rectification

Carryout STOROB activities

Your skills and qualifications:

Essentials:

Knowledge and experience in Type 45 systems and equipment’s,

Experience of fault finding on lighting circuits, LV motors

Testing of electrical components such as pressure switches.

Knowledge of Fire Flood Detection System

Knowledge of Platform Maintenance Schedules, Engineering Power Management System and associated uninterrupted power supplies

Desirables:

Must be computer literate

Knowledge of Ships HV systems
