Your new role

This role is predominantly home working, but the successful colleague will need to live close to the area for team building days and access to our Support Office.

Our People Advisors will be involved with employee relations and managing performance within the organisation through the disciplinary and grievance process and by advising on matters such as performance and capability. They are there as a support for Managers within the business and the first point of call when something arises. They get involved with all aspects of the People Strategy including employee engagement, Training and supporting our People Leaders.

What you'll be doing

  • Writing and reviewing Sofology's policies and procedures, ready for management approval

  • Ensuring that all employee records remain up to date and legally cover the company

  • Taking notes/acting as a witness at investigatory/disciplinary meetings

  • Organising, planning, undertaking and overseeing Sofology training courses

  • Full support, advice and guidance on all employee relations matters including general enquiries; law; procedures; disciplinary & grievances or absence issues.

  • Build effective working relationships with staff at all levels, providing advice and guidance on a range of HR policies and HR related issues to support understanding and ensure effective communication of good HR practice.

  • Coaching managers to help develop their people management skills as required.

  • Support individuals with their personal development.

  • Ensure effective monitoring of sickness trends and remedial action in accordance with the Sofology's policy and to facilitate a proactive approach to absence management.

  • General Administration and writing letters

  • Subject Access Requests

Skills/experience .....

  • Partly or fully CIPD qualified.

  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging Employment Law.

  • HR Generalist skills and knowledge, preferably in a Manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to handle complex employee relations matters.

  • Effective coaching and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex information effectively.

  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload in a busy environment.

  • Strategic thinking.

  • Able to build credible relationships across the business.

  • Attention to detail, specifically around legal notes; reports; letters; and data entry.

  • Continuous improvement knowledge preferable.

  • Flexible and positive attitude.
