Brief Description

This is an exciting time to join Network Rail in a time of transition with the Putting Passengers First programme. This plan is to provide the best possible service for passengers and freight users, to deliver the promises we've made for Control Period Six (CP6), and to improve the way we work together and with the industry.

You will be part of the NW&C Region which consist of three routes:

  • North West Route, covering Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria.
  • Central Route, covering the West Midlands and Chiltern areas.
  • West Coast Mainline South Route*, covering the West Coast main line south of Crewe to London Euston.

To develop and deliver the train performance strategy through accurate performance data capture, analysis and intelligence. To manage the process whereby all business change is performance risk assessed, leading the business through risk management processes. To develop Network Rail's understanding of performance and related industry outputs through data and intelligence

    Manage the performance analysis team to deliver high quality and innovative performance analysis, reports and projects to support performance management within the business.
    • Identify and integrate new datasets that can be leveraged for performance improvement and work closely across the industry to strategise and execute the development of projects.

      Manage the production of all performance reports and associated management information relating to performance. Interpret, summarise and communicate data and various analytical outputs / solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels across the business.

        Proactively review and analyse performance data to highlight trends and areas of concern and provide recommendations for improvement.

          Develop and maintain the Regional performance risk process

            Establish and support a clear framework for the induction, training and development of relevant performance analysis teams across the region.

            About the role (External)

            What You'll Need:

            • The ability to successfully lead a team of people
            • Well structured and highly organised and able to plan and deliver to tight timescales
            • Able to engage with people from a variety of different backgrounds and interpersonal levels
            • Detailed understanding of risk management
            • Knowledge of the railway operating environment - Expert knowledge of the use of railway data to analyse and understand train operations and performance

              Experience with data visualisation tools used to deploy advanced techniques, such as Tableau, Power BI etc
