Engineering Manager - Change

The BAE Systems naval ships team are looking for an experienced Change Manager to join their team who are currently working on the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) programmes.

Canada has selected the BAE Systems Type 26 design for the Canadian Surface Combatant under a subcontract from Lockheed Martin, Canada. BAE Systems is the warship designer for 15-ship programme for the Royal Canadian Navy in an initial three-year contract. Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is the nominated shipbuilder.

As an Engineering Manager - Change, you will be managing the various aspects of change from a design perspective that affects the programme. It is a varied role that works closely with the wider Global Combat Ship community as well as taking ownership of the impact assessment for the CSC design, whether the change originates from Type26, as a request by the Customer, or derived from within the CSC design evolution.

To be successful in this role you will need to have ship design experience and able to offer hands-on support and input together with extensive change management experience. This role will provide you with the opportunity of working on an international programme on some of the most modern defence technology available.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Change will involve:

Leading the assessment of Type 26 change relevance to CSC design and impact assessment of same

Reviewing all changes not yet incorporated into the design artefacts

Be the key conduit to feed back CSC changes driven by customer requirements to the GCS change board

Ensuring the design change database is kept updated at all times and aligned with commercial input

In coordination with the Chief Engineer’s team, oversee and drive the change management process

Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager - Change:

Extensive experience in ship design and engineering deliverables with strong whole-ship product knowledge
Experience in managing engineering change processes
Experience in conducting impact assessments from design change
Able to deliver risk-based assessment of design change
Experience of Risk management of technically complex programmes
