About the role

Reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Development Director will play a critical role in enabling Abcam to continue to evolve and deliver its ambitious growth strategy. The Corporate Development Director will partner with the Executive Leadership team and key advisors to support the development and implementation of the company’s strategic plan through evaluating and establishing innovative ways to promote business growth.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming idea/deal flow, as well as pursuing opportunities
  • Analyse acquisition opportunities for strategic corporate fit and value creation
  • Lead all aspects of the acquisition process including performing strategic and quantitative analysis, managing business and financial due diligence, define deal structure and negotiate deal terms in order to maximize Abcam’s return on investment
  • Act for and speak on behalf of the CEO/CFO where Abcam has an interest in maintaining and strengthening relationships with external stakeholders

About you

You will ideally have experience working in life sciences or biotech, although this is not essential. You will have excellent communication skills with a proven track record of building meaningful and strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will have successful end-to-end M&A experience including alliances, partnerships and/or joint ventures, across the continuum of sourcing, due diligence, structuring, negotiating and closing. You may come from a background in investment banking, consulting, corporate finance or law. If you can build financial models that would also be advantageous.
