Quality Leader

Would you like to play a key role within the Strategic Manufacturing Quality team? We currently have a vacancy for a Quality Leader at our site in Middlesbrough/Newcastle.

As a Quality Leader, you will be ensuring the Quality of the outsourced units/modules for the Submarines Programme. The role is unique in that it allows a large element of travel and is supplier facing.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a new project that allows you to shape the process moving forwards. There will be autonomy working with suppliers and the opportunity to travel.

Your main responsibilities as a Quality Leader will involve:

Leading/Witnessing Supplier inspections when necessary

Chairing weekly Quality meetings

Supporting daily Quality walk arounds at Supplier sites

Providing weekly updates on progress/issues
Managing Supplier notifications to closure
Raising defects where appropriate

Feeding into Inspection and Test Plans incorporating and capturing relevant hold points

Carrying out surveillance activities

Driving improvements into strategic manufacturing

Your skills and qualifications:
Experience of Supplier Interface

Engineering or Manufacturing background (working in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment)

Working knowledge of Quality, specifically NDE/Weld Inspection OR Structural QC

Ability to interpret drawings and/ or CAD model


Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis Experience

Good understanding/Experience of Quality Assurance

Experience of contracts/procurement
Experience using SAP
ISO 9001 lead auditor qualified

You will be a proactive individual with excellent communication skills in order to manage stakeholders convincingly with your leadership skills. Furthermore, you will have an understanding of customer and supplier relationships and how to approach this from a professional standpoint.
