Responsibilities

This isn’t a restrictive or exhaustive list but is designed to give you an idea of your responsibilities in this role and the impact you’ll have.

This role will lead our Windows Devices business for the Education team in the UK. You will be responsible for the plan and execution of Windows Devices for Education, working closely with the rest of the Education team, the Devices/OEM team at Microsoft, our customers and partners. You’ll think about devices for all our Education customers, from the needs of a single primary school, through to Higher Education and large device procurements and deployments.

It’s not just about the hardware. You’ll also help our customer and partners think about how to get the best experience using Windows, including deployment, management, security and the benefits of Windows for Education, helping us compete effectively and provide great value for customers.

This is a highly collaborative role. You’ll need to work closely with the UK Partner and Devices teams, Regional and HQ Education and Product teams and with our channel and key customers.

Programme Ownership and Breadth Customers

We have a range of licensing and commercial programmes to support our customers and partners. As school purchases in England continue to be largely decentralised, ensuring we have the right programmes and partner support in place is critical. This includes managing Shape the Future licensing for the UK, as well as thinking about the channels, frameworks and partnerships needed to reach customers with the right product and offer.

Frameworks, large deal procurement and business development

You’ll need to support large device procurements and identify key device frameworks that can help us reach customers more easily and ensure that are compete well across Education sectors.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of three core areas; understanding of the Education market, solid technical understanding of devices and Windows with an ability to communicate with IT Pros and an understanding of how devices are used in Education and the ability to work with Educators and Education Leaders. If you don’t have all those yet, but have strengths in some of those areas and a mindset to learn and develop, we’d still like to hear from you.

  • Experience of selling education hardware or software solutions (Microsoft technology preferred) combined with good understanding of key education solutions and competitive technologies
  • A deep understanding of how schools, colleges and universities buy devices and the ways to influence the purchase decision.
  • A good technical understanding of Devices in Education, including deployment, management and security.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, including being comfortable leading virtual teams and working with people outside your direct team
  • Good business planning skills, with an ability to move from planning to implementation and complete projects to deliver high impact.
  • Strong communicator in 1:1 and 1:Many settings, including technical information and end-user value.
