Brief Description

About us

This role sits in Route Services, a business area that has been created to supply services to the routes in the safest, most cost-efficient and effective way, enabling them to benefit from economies of scale and optimised national resources.

Our Asset Information Services team offers the rail industry trusted asset-related data and information management, insight and tools, enabling better informed business decisions that further improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of the railway as a system and ultimately deliver the timetable for our passenger and freight customers.

The role

Provide analysis and produce regular and adhoc data quality, asset and management reports about the infrastructure to inform decision making.Maintain the formal documentation of definitions and processes for reports and their associated measures.Support the reporting and analysis of key corporate performance indicators.

About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities

What will you be doing?

    Produce regular and ad hoc data quality, asset and management reporting for multiple stakeholders, including key corporate and regulatory customers

      Extract information from corporate databases and collect data from various sources to support asset information reporting

        Maintain a library of Asset Information reporting definitions and measures; implement relevant reporting standards, processes and procedures

          Support the development and implementation of an assurance framework and KPIs for the asset information reporting service

            Support the identification and development of new reports and measures for asset information analysis and reporting purposes

              Support the team's participation in, and responses to, regulatory audits and reviews of analysis and reporting activities and capabilities, and any subsequent recommendations

                Facilitate benchmarking and implement identified best practice and other capability improvement initiatives throughout the team, and proactively progress improvements

                  Support route cause analysis and the development and analysis of key leading and lagging performance indicators and reliability analysis of assets

                    Assist with Asset Information Services data reporting activities and other relevant activities as required

                    Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

                    Do you meet the following criteria?

                    Essential

                      GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths

                        Good communication and analytical skills, with proven ability to present information effectively and appropriately

                          Good IT skills, particularly in the development and use of the advanced features of spreadsheets

                            Experience of extracting information and reporting from multiple sources, including databases

                              Experience of data analysis, including statistical processes and graphical representation

                                Ability to liaise with senior industry stakeholders to understand their requirements

                                Desirable

                                  A level or equivalent in relevant subjects

                                    Knowledge of the rail industry

                                      Experience of working in a commercial environment in a data analysis and/or reporting role
