To develop and deliver an industry programme of work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to cost, time and quality in line with Company Standards procedures and the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and corporate governance.

Brief Description

To develop and deliver an industry programme of work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to cost, time and quality in line with Company Standards procedures and the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and corporate governance.

About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities

1.Lead the cross-industry programme integration team to deliver the programme objectives of the East Coast Upgrade

2.Develop an appropriate strategy for the development and delivery of the Programme work scope.

3.Identify priority opportunities within the programme and lead promotion and sharing of best practice between programmes.

4.Accountable for developing, Monitoring, updating and maintaining the industry plan so that it considers cross-programme and cross-industry requirements for achievement of programme objectives.

5.Lead the industry Access Oversight Board sub-groups and provide the relevant representation at Access Oversight Board

6.Develop and improve relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.

7.Develop and manage the Programme team, monitoring adequate resources available to deliver a flexible, competent, skilled and effective workforce at all times.

8.Contribute as a member of the Investment Directorate senior management team.

9.Sponsor audit of programme and project documentation, activities, processes and systems. Lead the communication of key issues for the function.

10.Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.

It is imperative you have…

    Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.

      Relevant experience in the successful management of major programmes of work in the construction and/or rail industries.

        Strong commercial focus and financially astute.

          Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.

            Knowledge of the principles of Health & Safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice.

              Excellent communication with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation.

              It is advantageous if you have…

                Experience of working in a Train Operator environment

                  Experience of working in Capacity or Access Planning

                    Knowledge of/experience in the UK railway industry.

                    We adhere to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: starting at £78,575 per annum and increasing to £88,397 per annum

                    Network Rail is required to comply with UK Government standards when carrying out pre-employment checks for all new starters; this includes a basic criminal record check. In addition to the basic criminal record check, in accordance with the UK Government we are also required to verify your identity, right to work in the UK and previous three years employment history.

                    This is a fixed term opportunity for 18 months.
