As a result of increased investment in Greater Manchester and with transport being at the heart of this, we are seeking an experienced Cost Manager to join our Projects Group team.
Projects Group within TfGM is changing. As well as our more traditional transport construction projects and programmes, such as Metrolink, transport interchanges, rail stations, highways and bus priority, we are now delivering a range of emerging priorities from easing congestion, addressing air quality and encouraging more people to cycle and walk. Overall this level of investment is likely to exceed over £1 billion over the next few years.
As a Projects Cost Manager, you will be responsible for managing, controlling and reporting all costs and liabilities associated with capital Project and Programmes. Reporting directly to the Commercial Lead you will work in a matrix organisation alongside project managers. In this role you will develop and manage cost plans and contract administration predominantly related to NEC Contracts. You will have the opportunity to be involved in multi modal projects, building capabilities and cost planning intelligence and provide cost planning support to the Greater Manchester districts. This is an exciting environment where you will have the chance to grow and build upon your existing knowledge and skills across a wide range of projects. Although we are currently home-based due to the current situation, we’re continually striving to deliver effectively whilst working remotely.
You will have experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with supply chains with strong experience of delivering projects cost-effectively from inception to completion, extensive negotiation skills and knowledge of industry standards and experience with various construction contracts including NEC. You will also have a degree in Quantity Surveying or be working towards this qualification.
