CREATIVE DIRECTOR, EXPERIENCE DESIGN

Zendesk is hiring a Creative Director with a focus on experience design to lead our brand team in London. This is a role that straddles both design execution and leadership, and works closely with colleagues and partners in San Francisco and around the world.

The day-to-day:

  • Lead, manage, and scale the Brand Experience Team in London – which includes graphic and 3D designers, artworkers, and copywriters

  • Empower the team to create outstanding work that makes Zendesk look and feel like Zendesk

  • Enable speed and flexibility for our fast growing company with smart systems and proper prioritisation

  • Create alliances with our internal partners in Marketing, Events, and Real Estate to align our output with company-wide business initiatives

  • Manage our network of creative agencies and guide the work of our external partners, from event production companies to printers

  • Work cross-functionally with the global Creative Team, including designers, copywriters, filmmakers, and photographers, presentation designers, and producers to ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints

  • Partner with the DesignOps Team to ensure projects are delivered on time and up to the stakeholders expectations

The bigger picture:

As the Creative Director of the Brand Experience Team, you will take on a key design role at Zendesk. You will be nurturing a group of dynamic creatives. You will help set our ambitions and define our aesthetics. And you will shape the way we grow and scale our activities, both globally and in the EMEA region.

The team you’ll be leading is responsible for some of our most visible work – our flagship user conference, our award-winning office designs, and most of the other cool stuff we do IRL. As CD, you will be overseeing all aspects of design for events and beyond: art direction of promotional materials, interior design, staging, and wayfinding. These spaces—whether virtual or physical— are an expression of the brand. They are places where customers get a chance to meet us face to face and learn about our products.

The impact of this work is global, and we need a CD who can scale their efforts to match. The ideal candidate will possess energy, ambition, and diplomacy all wrapped up in one powerful, charming, empathetic package. We want someone who is excited to become the guardian for a very special team of charming weirdos, all of whom are driven by collaboration and camaraderie.


Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in creating outstanding experiences. From global conferences to trade show booths and swag, you pride yourself in creating brand moments that are meaningful, different, and executed to the highest standard.

  • An outstanding track record in leading and growing creative teams, either in-house or in an agency—or both.

  • Experience working in or with tech companies, with an understanding of the advantages and challenges of working in a highly dynamic and connected global environment
