Network Operations plans, operates and maintains the railway day-to-day. Our business units - 'routes' - work closely with our customers, and are accountable for improving customer service, safety, and performance, as well as providing a value for money railway.
In support of the Project Manager you will be working within the team delivering the Track Worker Safety (TWS) Programme - a multi-year, multi-million pound, programme to drive a number of safety and wellbeing activities across the business and enable Network Rail to satisfy two ORR Improvement Notices.
You will be part of a wider Wessex programme team responsible for leading the safe and effective delivery of all areas as directed by the Project Manager. Collaborative working and adaptability are important skills in this important and complex programme.
Relationship building with key stakeholders is essential and will enable you to better support and deliver the desired outcomes. You will influence the way we fundamentally plan and deliver work on the railway with the end user in mind by successfully engaging and communicating with relevant business stakeholders and sponsors.
This role focuses heavily on the maintenance function, so an understanding of this business area is essential. Knowledge of Maintenance Works & Access Planning, Data & Assurance or Operations is also highly beneficial.
About the role (External)
1.Provide a professional, first class, consistent and effective project management service to the clients, including project monitoring and reporting systems in accordance with Railway Group, Network Rail company standards and guidelines.
2.Participate in the development and delivery of change projects in compliance with company processes and procedures.
3.Provide detailed input for compilation of the business plan and production of the possessions plan.
4.Control project change, risks and contingency within the project life cycle and provide all cost, contingency and programme details to enable the Sponsor to obtain authorisation for portfolios/projects.
5.Provide a safe working environment in the execution of work directly under the post holder's responsibility, including development of project safety plans and other associated documentation.
6.Identify training needs in safety, technical and management areas for the personnel reporting to the post holder and contribute to their personal development.
7.Undertake accident investigations when remitted to by the relevant designated competent person.
8.Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
