Mechanical Fitter/Assembler

Would you like to be conducting mechanical tasks across a wide range of products including Typhoon, Hawk and F35 covering the full production life cycle from detail manufacturing, minor and major Assemblies, Final assembly to acceptance and delivery to customers? We currently have a number of vacancies for a Mechanical Fitter/Assembler at our sites in Samlesbury and Warton.

As a Mechanical Fitter/Assembler, you will have a deep understanding of mechanical work and should be able to carry out the various techniques used in the aircraft and support industry.

This role will provide you with opportunities for development within the wider BAE business.

Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Fitter/Assembler

will involve:

Ensuring safe systems of work are carried out in compliance with Health and Safety rules and regulations

Reading/Interpreting Mechanical Drawings

Installing and maintaining various types of Mechanical Equipment

Fault diagnosis and defect rectification

Carrying out detailed inspections and be fully conversant in the use of all measuring equipment

Working with minimal supervision

Tasks will involve repetitive physical activities across several shifts

Compliance with foreign object debris (FOD) and tool control

Your skills and qualifications as a Mechanical Fitter/Assembler:

Time served apprentice or NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification (i.e: City and Guilds) in an engineering or manufacturing related subject

An understanding of Mechanical drawings, standards, and specifications

Experience using hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy

Willingness and ability to work on a shift pattern

You will have a strong work ethic and can-do attitude with the ability to work as part of an integral team whilst also being confident in working independently. You will possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written. You will be dexterous and have a keen eye for detail with a flexible approach to your work, able to work to tight deadlines
