We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer - Design Zone Integration at our site in Scotstoun.

As a Design Zone Integration Engineer, you will play a key role in pulling together engineering disciplines to ensure there is a fully integrated engineering solution delivered to schedule.

In return, this role will provide you with the unique opportunity to join Naval Ships during an exciting time of shipbuilding, working within the cutting edge Hunter Class Ship Design. There is a real breadth of engagement to this role which will broaden your technical experience through being involved across multiple streams of engineering and the challenges that will present.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Design Zone Integration will involve:

Participating fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in the engineering zonal integration strategy in response to technical developments and operational need

Carrying out relatively complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability

Developing designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards and carrying out design appraisals in assigned zones to ensure all standards are maintained

Carrying out investigations into operational problems or developments and developing and preparing solutions, individually or as a member of a cross-domain team

Acting as the main point of contact in assigned areas on engineering matters to resolve relatively complex problems and to maintain the profile of awareness of priorities and objectives

Your skills and qualifications:

Possesses in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals within one or more relevant engineering domains within marine and / or platform engineering and Naval Ship design

Recognised and consulted as one of the experts within at least one technical domain or for possessing deep knowledge of several domains within his/her discipline

Able to perform robust analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements based on experience

Has sufficient breadth of knowledge of warship design and the sound judgement needed to be able make correct trade-off decisions
