IM&T Practitioner

Would you like to work within the Business Intelligence team at BAE Systems Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for an IM&T Practitioner at our site in Barrow.

As an IM&T Practitioner, you will lead, consult and support Information Management & Technology in the development and application of people, projects, policies and processes, IMST strategy, systems and Information Management & Technology programme of work. You will manage and coordinate activities and participate in all aspects of the full project and systems lifecycle, ensuring the products implemented add value to the Submarines business and contribute to or influence the strategic direction of the business.

This role will provide you with many opportunities for career development with IM&T. A career tree is defined which can see people further develop into higher roles, taking on more responsibility in the process and help defining the future process and practices taken by the development team.

Your main responsibilities as an IM&T Practitioner will involve:

Undertaking people management or building an effective team to support projects and other Information Management & Technology activities.

Identifying and managing key stakeholders ensuring that relationships are developed and enhanced.Interacting effectively and confidently with the Business Customers, Information Management & Technology Management and Vendors clearly articulate Information Management & Technology concepts and services.

Taking on a lead role, providing consultancy advice and guidance and manage through to completion any Information Management & Technology projects and activities.

Leading the implementation of deliverables against Information Management & Technology business activities.

Demonstrating advanced Problem Analysis/Problem Solving methodologies.

Managing of financial and commercial aspects within Information Management & Technology.

Using appropriate facilitation, communication and presentation techniques to support Information Management & Technology activities.

Benchmarking and reviewing improved ways of working – continually seeking opportunities for productivity improvement, quality improvement and cost reduction.

Supporting the mentoring and management of Information Management & Technology trainees.

Your skills and qualifications:

Experience of working in an IM&T development function with a range of complex deliverables across different areas

Knowledge of Submarines business policies and processes

Organisational skills, facilitation, mentoring, commercial awareness and quality/version control experience

Stakeholder Management, Leadership and Problem Solving/Analysis expertise with the ability to analyse customer requirements and produce reporting solutions

SQL experience, in particular the ability to design and write effective SQL queries on numerous platforms

An understanding and experience of data extraction and modelling to support reporting requirements

A good understanding and experience of dimensional data modelling, star schema design working with an Enterprise reporting tool

IT degree or equivalent or business experience
