Would you like to play a key role in Electrical HV & LV Systems commissioning, operation, maintenance and defect rectification activities? We currently have a vacancy for an Electrical Engineer at our site in Portsmouth.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be working on the Royal Navy Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) Aircraft Carriers, Type 45 (T45) Destroyers, Type 23 (T23) Frigates, HUNT class and any contracted tasking, ensuring work is to agreed standards and delivered in the most economical, logical and professional way.
This role will provide you with a hands on opportunity to work across an extensive range of naval ships, working with a wide range of stakeholders, including global travel for periods between 1 to 3 weeks.
Your main responsibilities as a Commissioning Engineer will involve:
Maintenance, commissioning and defect diagnosis and rectification on Electrical HV and LV Systems
Applies depth and breadth of knowledge relating to Electrical HV and LV systems in order to resolve the most complex challenges, issues and faults associated with commissioning, operation and performance of systems
Present designated trials and commissioning activities
Operate Safe Systems of Work that comply with the company SHE procedures at all times
Be able to work with a high degree of technical autonomy and provide advice and guidance to other technical staff
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers
Be able to engage with customers and authorities in writing, by telephone or face to face to discuss technical issues and problems
Provide information and technical advice to assist in the compilation of estimates, programs and work packages
Ensure that all work meets Product Safety standards
Act as High Voltage Authorized Person in area of expertise, ensuring the safety of the team and quality of work delivered
Your skills and qualifications:
Hold a qualification or equivalent experience in Electrical engineering
Wide understanding, knowledge and experience of Electrical HV and LV systems and what influences their performance and the business environment.
Demonstrable experience of maintenance and repair of Electrical HV & LV systems and a keenness to keep abreast of technological initiatives and updates.
Excellent practical problem-solving skills (PPS), making sound judgements based on own knowledge and experience
Ability to write technical reports
