The Western route incorporates the core stations at either end of the Great Western Mainline - London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads, which we own and run. The main challenge for us is to provide enough capacity on the railway at peak times for growing numbers of passengers to and from London, as well as Reading, Oxford, Bristol and Exeter. Demand for Freight is also growing.

Brief Description

This placement is in the Human Resources Team.

About the role (External)

This placement will offer an introduction to managing people within the Railway. Based within a business partner team you will gain exposure to all aspects of generalist Human Resource Management. This could include:

    Helping managers with employee queries

      Organising training and inductions

        HR administration such as contractual changes

          Project work such as employee recognition schemes

            Exposure to recruitment and selection

              Working with trade unions.
