Following successful bids in the international market BAE Systems are now supporting the Australian and Canadian Navies in the design of the latest frigates. These projects together with the construction of the latest frigate for the UK Royal Navy means that the Naval Ships team needs to grow their team of engineers. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our team to contribute to the production of the first fleet of the Type 26 Frigates? This role will be based at our site in Scotstoun, Glasgow.

As a Senior Engineer – Technical Maturity, you will be maintaining and developing a wide range of engineering activities associated with the control and maturity management of the whole ship design. You will also support the chief engineer’s governance to demonstrate design integrity is maintained through to in-service.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders in order to evolve processes and measures to provide confidence of the design maturity for transition targets as the product progress through the engineering lifecycle.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer will involve:

Coordinating and facilitating technical reviews for design progression including collation of actions, data packs and providing certificates

Developing improvements to toolsets and processes associated with documenting and reporting issues on the project and support to all users and stakeholders

Using engineering knowledge to develop engineering processes and reporting, including analysis of data and problem solving to support decision making activities

Contributing to governance activities through process improvement workshops and process confirmations

Your skills and qualifications:

Engineering background is required for this role with knowledge of design assurance desirable

Experienced windchill user
Experience of design or phase reviews

Competent user of MS packages including strong Excel experience
