Engineer – Product Security Analyst

We currently have a vacancy for an Engineer within the Product Security team at our site in Barrow-in-Furness. Product Security is an area that continues to grow in strategic importance to meet the demands of design, development and supply of leading complex systems.

As a member of the Product Security Team, you will have the opportunity to ensure secure design and development of the product with a focus on risk mitigation, maintained through continuous technical assessment on the impacts to confidentiality, integrity and availability of a system and the downstream affects a design change may have on technologies.

Your levels of responsibility will depend on your skills and experience, but you will be able to understand and report the programme status for engineering activities in your area of responsibility, identify problem areas, implement recovery plans and help us to support our submarines that play a critical role in our nation's defence., You will be required operate on an ever changing technical landscape; as the programme lifecycle progresses and also as the business innovates and pioneers new technologies / systems which introduces risk.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineer within the Product Security Engineering domain will involve; -

Working closely with and providing advice to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Product Security Engineering is considered and included throughout the Product lifecycle

Supporting the development and maintenance of Product Security strategies, processes, guidance and awareness.

Supporting on going accreditation activities (RMADS) for key systems within the Submarine

Identifying and support the team with regards to security requirements for key systems. This shall include regularly reviewing and updating requirements where/if necessary

Supporting Security Working Groups (SWGs) with the customer and key industry partners to ensure that risks and issues are identified and sentenced in a timely fashion

Supporting the design and development of secure systems by providing Product Security expertise and ensuring that risk mitigations are implemented early in the design

Supporting Security Testing activities

Your skills and qualifications as an Engineer within Product Security;

Essential:

A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering, IT, Sciences or Maths etc.) or Information Security related

Basic knowledge of cyber security activities

Keen interest in Cyber Security within an Engineering environment

Desirable:

Experience within an operational engineering environment

Knowledge and/or experience of implementing defence standards
