We currently have three exciting Finance Apprentice opportunities available.
As a Finance professional you'll go on to inform multi-million-pound decisions and directly influence the development, growth and operation of our railway.
Your key activities will include assisting finance teams with forecasting, budgeting and analysis as well as taking the lead on meetings and reporting to senior members of the company. You'll have projects on the go and off the job training to make sure you're getting all the skills you need to develop in a future leader. As an Apprentice you will rotate placements across a wide range of departments giving you a unique experience of how finance works within Network Rail.
During the first two and a half years you will complete the AAT qualification alongside gaining business knowledge during various rotations within our Milton Keynes HQ. Upon completion you'll have the chance to move on to CIMA to become a chartered accountant while having the opportunity to work in some of our national teams. Upon completion you'll be given the support needed to continue your career at Network Rail and move in to one of our finance roles.
By the end of your apprenticeship not only will you have had five years' worth of experience, but you'll be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant! Our programme provides fully funded study support including day release for college for you to complete AAT and CIMA qualifications.
This role is an entry level scheme designed as an alternative route to University, you cannot apply if you are a graduate already or hold a Level 4 qualification (i.e. AAT).
About the role (External)
Key accountabilities include:
- Assist with periodic financial reports and forecasting.
- Provide support with ad hoc projects as dictated by the business area.
- Undertake ad hoc accounting assistance and general administrative duties work as required.
- Completion of a special project in a specific Finance/Management Accounting topic, and provide a completed report/presentation.
- Complete AAT exams/CIMA.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Achieved a minimum of 5 GCSE (or equivalent) at grades 5 or higher, must include English and Maths at grade 5 or higher.
- Achieved/predicted to achieve a minimum of grades A* -C from your top 3 A-Levels (or equivalent), not including General Studies.
- Good IT skills and ability to learn systems quickly (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Collaborative team player.
- Ability to deliver under a challenging working environment.
- Ability to manage activities to agreed timelines whilst balancing work and exams.
- Strong business acumen and an aptitude for numbers.
