Integration/Systems Team Lead
Would you like to play a key role in the management of Shared Infrastructure (SI) Systems with one of the UK’s Largest Defence Companies? We currently have a vacancy for Integration and Systems Team Leads respectively at our site in New Malden.
As an Integration/Systems Team Lead, you will be managing a defined range of SI System activities, in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements. You will be playing a key role in the management of the SI product across multiple projects, managing a team of significant size in a complex organisation in a key area.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to have management and financial responsibility through the whole project lifecycle through to delivery onto the Ship and beyond. You will have the opportunity to oversee aspects of design, development and delivery of the systems gaining understanding of the technical aspects of the systems including COTS Software and Hardware aspects. This role could lead to further longer-term opportunities within Engineering or Project Management.
Your main responsibilities as Integration/Systems Team Lead will involve:
Manage a Shared Infrastructure Team on a daily basis.Be responsible for reporting on activities, over-seeing tasks, looking for commonality of approach, understanding dependencies and issues.
Responsible for dealing with the financial tracking and reporting of activities being undertaken by the team on a monthly basis.Attending project reviews to discuss progress and budgets.
Management of team resources and forward planning.The role will require management of resources within a matrix organisation, with conflicting needs and timescales.
Supporting the production of training plans and overseeing the general development of members of the team.
Make sure the benefits of a SI product are understood and are being realised within the team
Liaison with the customer and other teams within the projects to achieve the completion of the projects to time and budget.
Support the preparation of bids to provide engineering leadership in area(s) of expertise
Your skills and qualifications:
Management experience – leading people (up to 10 people)
Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment
You’ll have experience with many of the following:
Application of Earned Value Management techniques to monitor progress & evidence of having applied the results of EV to inform the management decision making process
Experience of having interaction with engineers across multiple disciplines e.g. hardware, software & systems.Understanding of their issues & drivers.
Experience of managing and planning resource usage
Experience of delivering systems, working to deadlines and working in a pressurised environment.
Having an understanding of various Systems Engineering or Integration facets and to be able to guide and add value to work being undertaken.
Naval Combat Systems or Defence Background
Meet the requirements for registration as Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and preferably be a member of a relevant Professional body

Ability to manage complex issues for multiple concurrent projects balancing the needs and priorities of each project against the others. The ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally to senior management and peers will also be beneficial within this role.
