Responsibilities

The PDM Manager will need to manage, develop and retain a team of high performance Partner Development Managers (PDM), and recruit new additions as needed. The role will work across Microsoft and the partner organization to ensure business goals are aligned to partner offerings. The seniority of the role evidences Microsoft’s deep commitment to the partner ecosystem to build a mutually beneficial business relationship by working closely with partner senior leadership. The PDM Manager represents Microsoft to the ISV partners, communicates our strategy, sells our vision and brings partners along in the digital transformation journey.

The right person for this role will be passionate about the change that technology can drive for our customers, sellers and partners. They will be expected to interact at director and executive levels with customers and partners and manager and director levels in Microsoft’s business & product groups, marketing, services and account teams. The PDM Manager role is responsible for a team of Practice Development Managers (PDMs) who are accountable for working with our most strategic ISVs to drive new solutions to market with these partners and grow their consumption & usage across the Microsoft Clouds (Azure, D365 & O365 – specifically Teams). Their role is to own a balanced portfolio aligned to business requirements & the outcomes for this team will be to drive long-term revenue & partner success, cloud consumption and digital transformation through workload/industry based co-sell.

Partner Strategy: Lead the partner engagement strategy across the Microsoft Build-With lifecycle through a team of Partner Development Managers (PDM). Provide leadership to ensure that investments are made in partners that are committed and capable. Build high impact relationships with ISV leadership, to accelerate partner journey to the co-sell stage. Lead overall business/sales planning and execution across the team.

Team Leadership: Retain and manage a world-class high performance team. Oversee and be responsible for team commitments and strive for success. Be a team leader who sets aspirational goals and drives team towards success while ensuring effective teaming and coordination between roles across teams to win business and remove blockers. Drive the PDM team to manage existing partners and add new practices/solutions based on local capacity requirements and inputs from co-sell teams to drive portfolio optimization. Develop a team that demonstrates account management excellence through high quality interactions with the partner, and through well-orchestrated interactions between partner executives and Microsoft executives.

Business Orchestration: Drive One Microsoft orchestration across teams (including inside sales, technical management, channel management) to secure partner commitment to Microsoft platform and services. Lead the PDM team to drive adoption of Apps, Practices and attainment of revenue and customer adds. Secure, coordinate, manage resources and programmes to enable partner practice growth. Influence subsidiary/area leadership to align strategy & resources to help team achieve targets. Grow the managed partner portfolio by driving and being accountable for performance as measured by consumption, usage, and adoption. Drive and support global expansion.

Qualifications

Examples of the kinds of leadership skills that would be great for the role:

  • Understanding and thought leadership of digital transformation business drivers and cloud platforms such as Azure, Dynamics 365, or O365, with Microsoft or other technologies
  • Demonstrable experience in Enterprise sales and/or technical leadership, & people management in the technology industry
  • Strong executive presence including communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to large and small audiences.
  • Problem solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources, conflict resolution, and follow through with people/partners
  • Bachelor degree is required (Sales, Marketing, Business Operations) whilst MBA desired
