JP Morgan’s Global Commodities Group (GCG), within the Corporate & Investment Bank, operates from primary offices across Europe, North America and Asia. The business offers clients a global platform to a full spectrum of physical and financial products across energy, agricultural, environmental and metal commodities as well as more complex exotic structuring. The commodities business is a challenging, fast-paced area of growth within an ever changing regulatory environment.

The Commodity Middle Office team provides first-line support for the Commodity trading and sales businesses within EMEA and acts as a key point of contact for all global teams in relation to the Commodities business.

The product set is diverse and includes complex and exotic instruments; the Commodity trading & sales desks cover a wide variety of underlyings including oil & gas, precious & base metals, agriculture and commodity indices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and management of trade lifecycle events to the required standard

  • Ensuring existing controls and procedures are followed accurately and

  • Acting as a liaison between front, middle and back office teams

  • Supporting change initiatives, as the team supports a business that is continually evolving

  • Liaising with clients, vendors and internal teams to investigate and resolve trade discrepancies

  • Providing operational support for the regulatory change agenda

  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and procedures, including development of other team members

  • Maintaining a control focus while taking ownership of issue resolution, with appropriate escalation

  • Forming effective partnerships with team members to ensure targets are met, including sharing of product and process knowledge as appropriate

  • Identifying existing or potential future skills and/or experience gaps and ensuring that the team has appropriate action plans in place

University degree, preferably with a major in a mathematical discipline or finance

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant financial services role
  • Extremely strong attention to detail and controls focus
  • Knowledge of Commodities products an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with both clients and internal business partners
  • Takes personal responsibility for tasks and has an analytical mindset
  • Positive attitude to change; desire to do things better and more efficiently
