Lead Java Software Engineer (VP)

As a senior member of our Software Engineering Group you be technical lead for an existing team of Java developers. The team own a set of reference data tools.

You’ll join an existing team of aspiring and curious technologists dedicated to improving the design, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products. The team will benefit from your leadership and experience and will look to you to help them improve the robustness of their approach following best practices and help guide them through pitfalls. You will have your own project deliverables to work on to improve our product feature set offering.

Our team delivers for a wider strategic roadmap, providing foundational data services which are used in several applications. The scale of impact of change can be wide and the changes can become complex, therefore your analytical approach will help us understand and communicate this complexity and then help us manage the change appropriately.

Coming in with an understanding of the importance of end-to-end software development is key. You’ll be working with and sharing ideas, information and innovation with our global team of technologists from all over the world.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including but not limited to:

  • Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

  • Ability to understand architecture and design across distributed systems

  • Skilled at test driven development using frameworks such as Junit and Fitnesse or Cucumber

  • Familiar with using Code Quality tools such as SonarQube and FindBugs

  • Experienced with Continual Integration
  • Using Maven for build configuration and dependency management

  • Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals

  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement

  • Experience with Database modelling and design

  • Experience with data wrangling and conforming datasets

  • Experience in building reusable services
  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms & multi-threaded programming

  • An understanding of data warehousing, dimensional models
