Subsurface Assistant Project Manager
Would you like to support the delivery training and development of training solutions for the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Project Manager working on subsurface projects within Training Services Group at our site in Broad Oak, Portsmouth. This a key role within the subsurface project team who design, build and support a number of classified training simulators used by the Royal Navy for operator, maintainer and warfare team training.
As a Subsurface Assistant Project Manager, you will be assisting the Project Manager to manage the day-to-day running of the subsurface projects to cost, quality and time and in accordance with the project management plans, project schedules and in compliance with BAE Systems’ policies and processes. You will be leading on day to day management and coordination of in-service support activities including liaison and coordination with the customer and suppliers.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work closely with both the MoD customer and RN user in supporting the delivery of training and the development and update of training solutions. It could also open up opportunities for further Project Management roles within BAE Systems.
Your main responsibilities as a Subsurface Assistant Project Manager will involve:
Leading on day to day management and coordination of project in service support activities (particularly maintenance, spares and repairs issues) including liaison and coordination with the customer, site maintenance teams and suppliers
Monitoring project spend on a monthly basis and assist with project control updates
Coordinating change bids for subsurface contracts, including review / generation of estimates and schedules and coordination with project control / finance / commercial to achieve bid approval
Assisting with project resource level tracking and forward load forecasting
Preparing customer progress reports, attendance at customer meetings (in UK) and production of minutes
Monitoring of project deliverables and Key Performance Indicators
Your skills and qualifications:
A good knowledge of project management techniques and practices.
Engineering or Manufacturing background
Experience of influencing stakeholders both inside and outside the company
Some knowledge and understanding of the Naval training domain
A sound knowledge of BAE Systems’ project governance and lifecycle management processes
Good knowledge of project management planning tools such as Microsoft Project and resource/forward load planning tools highly desirable
