Finance Assistant (Programme Control Analyst)

We are currently looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join our Project finance team, based in Rochester.
Reporting to the business group finance lead, the successful candidate will provide a project accounting service to the business which will involve the financial control and reporting of a group of projects within a defined business area.

Your main responsibilities as a Finance Assistant (Project Control) will involve:
Working with key stakeholders and supporting line leaders in the preparation and completion of financial forecasts in support of monthly business reviews, annual budgets, quarterly business reviews and 5 year integrated business plans
Financially controlling and managing a suite of projects and complete all reporting requirements on behalf of those projects
Monitoring financial performance to ensure effective working capital, cash management, and reporting
Partner with the Project teams to not only understand plans and movements but to also challenge the assumptions made in order to identify financial risks, opportunities, and associated mitigation plans
Preparing of financial reports including Contract Status Reports (CSRs) and Sales & Margin Trading Plan
Ensuring the projects are fully compliant with the BAE Systems Operational Framework and Finance Policies Manual to satisfy all Internal Control requirements including External and Internal Audit processes
Proactively seek to improve local processes and working practices to drive efficiencies across the team and wider business to help drive the Finance function forward
Your skills and qualifications as a Finance Assistant (Project Control) will include:
Education in accounting, finance, or business is preferable, with a foundation in Maths/ English education or equivalent
Aptitude to learn and develop in finance environment
Ability to communicate with various levels of stakeholders
Strong Excel skills and ability to pick up new IT systems
