Application Support Analyst – Derivatives / Equities (SQL, FIX, ITIL)

This position is for an applications support analyst to join a global support team to help build a world class operate function and culture. We are looking for a dynamic and inquisitive individual who has the ability to challenge the status quo but also bring solutions to the table.

The candidate will come with strong ITIL principles in incident and problem management, as well as have practical exposure to modern engineering principles around DevOps and SRE.

You will be providing support to the F&O business which includes the high and low touch trading desks; the Execution Services technology suite underpins the Equities and FX Electronic Trading businesses, and Sales & Trading businesses. It is complex in nature and requires very strong technical skills to successfully support the proprietary and ISV technology.

This is a critical client facing role where the candidate will be responsible for providing frontline trading execution support in a challenging technology stack, the role will be based in EMEA as part of a global 24/7 follow the sun team.

The role involves acting as the gatekeeper to the F&O production plant, so releases and changes from internal and external teams need to be diligently scrutinised.

The individual will be tasked to demonstrate technical and operational expertise to the EMEA F&O businesses of JPMorgan. This role requires working as part of the Execution Services Technology team, which works closely with both Technology and Business partners to ensure the timely analysis and resolution of issues raised on a day to day basis. The F&O businesses deal in a range of activities including algorithmic trading with the help of several integrated applications.

Key responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day support of order routing and execution for HT (high touch) and LT (low touch)

  • General incident and outage management

  • Market data problems and entitlements

  • Management of crisis events

  • Compliance with the eTrading controls agenda and Market Access regulatory requirements

  • Weekend support

  • Change release management

  • Monitoring of the environment stack

  • Assisting in resolving T+0 and T+1 trading issues

  • Carry out plant reliability projects

  • Execute DR exercises such system failover tests

  • Work with ISV’s to resolve issues

Skills Required

  • Good practical understanding of FIX protocol
  • Intermediate level in Linux
  • Intermediate SQL query
  • Practical understanding of EMS and OMS work flows
  • Monitoring tools
  • Network troubleshooting
  • Scripting using bash, shell


  • Working collaboratively with a wider a range of stake holders
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Preference for a good knowledge of Derivatives and Equity markets
  • A desire to be continuously learning
  • Experience of working with ISV – GL, TT, CQG and Bloomberg
  • Experience of Automation tooling/practise to reduce waste
  • Understanding of Algorithmic and DMA flow
  • ITIL principles
