  • Produce technical input data requirements, CTRs and proposals to meet customer needs for end of life / life extension studies and operational support assessments (i.e. change in service, chemical compatibility assessments).
  • Establishing and maintaining a standardised methodology and approach for FPS services studies, after sales support and associated CTR’s and proposals.
  • Support the construction services team working on flexlay equipment specifications, ITTs and installation engineering activities including potential for early engagement support.
  • Undertake calculations and analyses using a combination of in-house and general software as well as hand calculations to understand the service life of flexible pipes assessing global dynamic hydrodynamic performance, cross sectional integrity, corrosion/erosion, fatigue life and material ageing performance.
  • Assess and deploy environmental and vessel data for implementation into a global analysis system model.
  • Provide detailed technical evaluations of flexible pipe system performance, ageing and integrity as part of the services package offerings. Produce detailed gap analysis from initial global analysis and compare with latest applicable standards and codes.
  • Suitably assess performance and integrity risks to the flexible pipes using a detailed understanding of flexible pipe systems engineering, failure modes and effects analysis.
  • Stay current with operational feedback on flexible pipe integrity and failure modes to gain knowledge and appreciate operator needs for their asset performance. Liaise with the FPS Chief Consulting Engineer on field feedback from operators.
  • Produce comprehensive pipe cross section assessment and dynamic analysis reports for submission as part of either integrity study or life extension execution work.
  • Interface with the engineering groups both internally and externally during integrity and life extension studies of the flexible pipe system and ancillary equipment, to present a comprehensive technical summary package.

  • Ability to work on all stages of a project from bid through to execution.
  • High technical ability.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the main standards for design of offshore structures and flexible pipes (DNV, API codes…).
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis of dynamic riser systems. Preferred tools include Orcaflex and Flexcom.
  • IT literate with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Office (including VBA).
  • Ability to define problems, collate and analyse data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Understanding of offshore flexible design and installation methods.
  • Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; organize and provide technical documentation in a logical format for customer evaluation.
  • Ability to operate and guide within a multi-tasking dynamic team environment.

  • Ability to analyse and interpret technical procedures, professional journals or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions across a broad range of levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as interpolation, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of structural mechanics, fluid mechanics (vessel motion, hydrodynamics and wave kinematics), stress analysis and buckling strength analysis of structural components.
  • A team player but someone who is equally comfortable working alone (self-motivated).
  • Flexible attitude and proactive approach to unpredictable demands.
  • Good interpersonal skills (articulate, confident, mature and able to work as part of a team).
  • Ability to perform under pressure to deadlines without compromising standards.
