Would you like a great opportunity working in the mechanical designer discipline? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Designer - Mechanical at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

The Senior Designer - Mechanical role consists of 3D modelling (design and integration) of various pipe routing systems in the submarine design using CAD, 3D models are to be matured as required to then produce a 2D drawing output. The role also includes construction of a bill of materials for your specific area in the submarine design.

This role will provide you with the daily challenges of working with the stakeholder group to solve problems and drive solutions/resolution of design vs spatial problems with the production of 3D models and 2D drawing outputs to cost and schedule.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Designer - Mechanical will involve:

Using the CAD tool to produce 3D models of pipe routing systems and mechanical equipment integration

Producing 2D drawing outputs to a demanding schedule to support the manufacturing and production teams in product build and delivery

Developing and maintaining working relationships with interfacing teams and team members

Working with the client to produce an integrated design that meets their expectations and agreed set of requirements

Your skills and qualifications:
Essential Skills:

Understanding of pipe routing systems as well as 3D model integration in a mechanical background

Experience of mechanical design and/or integration working through various stages of design, output and build of a product

Desirable Skills:
Submarine or ships product knowledge
Understanding of CAD modelling techniques
Experience and knowledge of a CAD package
Ability to utilise PLM toolsets
