As Project Manager you will be reporting to the Defence Information (DI) Head of High Assurance Networks Account & Delivery and will be responsible for identifying, qualifying growth opportunities for the DI business to exploit their proven capabilities in collaboration with the BAE Systems Maritime businesses. You will work closely with DI Product and Service Leads to understand current and future capabilities within the DI business, and alongside the Maritime teams to understand their requirement needs.
As a Project Manager, you will be leading various campaigns ranging from secure communications networks to complex software applications for a wide range of Maritime platforms both surface and sub-surface. This will involve developing relations with stakeholders, the production of proposals and innovative white papers as well as driving proposals through the bid lifecycle. This role will include both long-term strategic campaigns and rapid response bids for short term deliverables, which will require a flexible and innovative approach.
This role could provide you with several opportunities including; support to achieve professional qualifications and accreditations; Managing a range and scale of tasks/projects of varying values duration and technologies; Working in Multiple technology domains within the product and services group, across the Christchurch site and more widely across Defence Information and the greater BAE Systems.
Your main responsibilities as a Project Manager will involve:
The identification, development and management of stakeholder relationships
Production of proposals – both formal and informal
Identifying key skills required and developing the project team
Supporting the development of business cases and bidding documentation
Accurate reporting of campaign status to team members, leadership and external stakeholders including lifecycle management (Gate) reviews
Developing and tracking bid plans, budget and schedule
You may be required to support, as appropriate, activities relating to DI Business Development Operations and DI Business Winning performance improvements.
You will be involved with wider DI bid work across other DI UK sites.
Good communications skills and ability to build relationships with a diverse spectrum of individuals (customer, suppliers etc.)
Experience working in close collaboration with one or more customers
Adaptability and flexibility in order to react and positively respond to change
Knowledge of project management techniques and recent experience in leading delivery projects
Knowledge of a recognised project management methodology such as PRINCE2/APMP/MSP, although relevant knowledge and experience may offset the qualification requirements.
Managing delivery of hardware and/or software systems. End to end delivery of complex integrated systems.
Ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programs and technology projects.
Have proven experience of working within or in close collaboration with the UK MoD as a Project Manager
Have a reasonable understanding from a technical perspective of military deployed CIS and associated CIS Infrastructure
Experience of complex command control and communication systems
Strategic planning, risk management and/or change management
Experience of Cyber resilience and information assurance would be beneficial
You will have excellent influencing and inter-personal skills allowing you to work effectively alongside a range of stakeholders. You will also have a ‘Can do’ attitude as self-motivation and drive will also be key to success within this role. Innovation, driving improvement and organisation are also traits that will be very beneficial to the role.
Location: Christchurch (although we can be more flexible and include southern sites, as quite a lot of work could be at Maritime business customer locations – Frimley, Portsmouth and Weymouth).
