Our office-based department provides Civil and Structural expertise across Substation, Overhead Line, and Cable projects. We are looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer with four to seven years of experience to join our Digital Award winning High Voltage (HV) Civil and Structural Team based in Brighton. The role will span a diverse portfolio of work and there will be opportunities for advancement within the team.
The selected candidate will carry out work on HV Substation, Overhead Line and Cable projects, fulfilling tasks including:
* Project Management.
* Proposal Writing.
* Scheme Costings.
* Front End Engineering Design (FEED).
* Preparation of drawings for use in planning applications and tender packages.
* Detailed Civil/Structural Design.
* Preparation of Specifications.
* Condition and Structural Assessment of existing structures to determine suitability for reuse.
At the outset we would expect some experience in all named areas but, should your application be successful, you will have the opportunity to learn from other team members and to further develop your skills. Any prospective candidate must display a willingness to engage with new challenges as well as an ability to work confidently on tasks for which they have prior experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate good written communication skills including report writing. The role will also require excellent communication and people skills. You will be in a client facing role and will be expected to liaise with clients and contractors both on-site and over the phone.
Candidates applying for this role must have a degree in Civil or Structural engineering. They should also be a graduate member of the ICE or IStructE and be working towards or have recently achieved, chartership. It is preferable, although not essential, for the prospective candidate to have previous experience as an Engineer working with Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Networks in high voltage substations.
Although the team is Brighton based, we regularly bid for projects all around the UK and Overseas. A prospective candidate should be prepared to undertake short-term site visits to meet with clients and contractors.
