Senior Mechanical Engineer – Test Equipment
Would you like to play a key role within test equipment design for submarine platforms? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Test Equipment at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Test Equipment, you will be providing technical support to Test & Commissioning (T&C) about the equipment we use, ensuring it is safe for both people and the product. You will be assisting in ensuring that we correctly identify and specify rigs / equipment we need, as well as providing the design assurance, assessment and validation to define technical solutions to T&C engineering issues.
This role will provide you with varied activities day-to-day, alongside the chance to learn about complex submarine technology. You will also interact with various teams within the business, including T&C, Engineering function, Operations and Logistics.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Test Equipment will involve:
Providing support to the Principal Mechanical Engineer
Evaluating and defining test arrangements to ensure they are safe for the operators and for the product
Assisting with the specification and design of test equipment and rigs
Producing calculations and proving designs
Generating test arrangement diagrams
Liaising with system owners and transverse owners for sign-off of test designs
Engaging outside vendors and suppliers for engineering solutions
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Test Equipment:
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in mechanical engineering.
Systems/design engineering experience with a breadth of mechanical systems, such as: pipe, water hydraulic and air/gas and pressure systems
Experience of mechanical design within a complex engineering environment, such as: water treatment, oil & gas, marine, defence, automotive etc.
