Desktop Support - Fixed Term Contract

Location:Cambridgeshire

Job purpose:

To support, maintain and improve UK desktop support infrastructure services


Duties:

  • Receiving/Logging and managing incidents in Service Desk
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for Windows PCs/laptops, printers, telephones and other IT infrastructure
  • Deploy IT equipment to staff to provide new functionality and replace end of life items.
  • Plan and implement tasks and small projects to improve the services we provide.
  • Use problem solving skills to fix IT software and hardware
  • Assist colleagues where needed with support tickets and tasks
  • Educate staff in how to use new technologies
  • Maintain and produce documentation and “How To” guides

Job Requirements:

Education, Training & Qualifications:
  • A-Levels or equivalent level of qualification – Essential
  • A good IT-related degree with a professional qualification such as an MCP – Desirable
Experience:
  • 1+ years commercial experience of working in a Windows environment – Essential
  • 2+ years commercial experience working in a large Windows environment – Desirable
Specific skills & abilities:
  • Understanding of Windows 7/10 – Essential
  • Understanding of Office products – Essential
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical problems – Essential
  • Work well under pressure and to deadlines – Essential
  • Experience using Active Directory and Exchange – Desirable
  • Experience using an ITSM system. – Desirable
  • Previous experience of delivering small projects – Desirable
  • Experience of other IT equipment (Phones, Printers etc) – Desirable
