Senior Procurement Engineer

Would you like to work in fast paced role with a wide variation of tasks undertaken from day to day, being involved across all of the platforms that come under US Programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Procurement Engineer at our sites in Warton and Samlesbury.

As a Senior Procurement Engineer, you will be leading and developing where appropriate a small team of purchasing individuals and manage suppliers.

This role will provide you with opportunities to progress both within the current department, externally within Air and the wider BAE Systems business units as well as the opportunity to gain professional qualifications with The Chartered Instituted of Procurement & Supply.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Procurement Engineer will involve:

Issuing of Request for Quotations to Suppliers

Negotiating with and placing orders on suppliers for purchasing high quality parts and equipment in support of our aircraft programmes and manage supplier performance

Supporting preparation of procurement documentation and reporting to support our internal management review processes and for reviews with our suppliers

Tracking record of building relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers

Experience of developing Procurement strategies

Playing an active role in negotiating and placing contracts / purchase order for all types of contract e.g. availability, services etc.

Senior Procurement professionals maybe expected to lead and develop where appropriate or mentor a junior member of the Procurement team

Embracing our recently launched Enterprise Resource Planning system (Infor LN) for managing Procurement activities, changing the way we do things in the Air sector

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Dependant on the role an ability to work flexible at both Warton and Samlesbury sites is preferred (Home site will be Samlesbury)

Willingness to travel to suppliers to participate in business reviews where necessary

A willingness to study for the CIPS qualification, if you do not already hold it

You will need to be able to work well on your own initiative and will have excellent communication skills.You’ll possess excellent communication skills and ability to manage professional relationships

Be able to demonstrate that you are comfortable with communicating effectively at all levels such as Internal & External Stakeholders, colleagues and customers

Being confident with using software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and/or other ERP related software tools (Infor LN)

Paying great attention to detail when creating Invoices, Purchase Orders etc

Desirable:

Holds or working towards a CIPS qualification

Holding a degree or equivalent level which relates to Procurement (Business Studies, Finance, IT etc) or relevant experience

Demonstrating exposure to a Procurement and/or Supply Chain role in previous work experience

Commercially astute with an awareness of the challenges facing the Procurement function in the defence industry

Ability to influence and manage stakeholders’ expectations

The role will require close working with numerous stakeholders and the ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively across networks.

Salary: £37,654+
