Would you like to an exciting opportunity within our Jigs supply chain team working with the wider Jigs and Tools IPT which means working with Project Managers, Quality & Engineering personnel for the Dreadnought submarines. We currently have a vacancy for a Procurement Professional at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Procurement Professional, you will be working in the Jigs and Tools Organisation which is fast moving & challenging where all members of the Supply Chain team are involved from the beginning to the end of a full procurement lifecycle from development, RFQ through manufacture & delivery .

This role will be at the forefront of this development and will give you the opportunity to have a positive impact on this programme.

Your main responsibilities as a Procurement Professional will involve:

Managing the relationship with a number of Jigs suppliers across Transactional and Major Sub-contracting routes.

Managing the Order Book of those suppliers from RFQ through to delivery & payment, ensuring all systems are up to date and the Suppliers and Project managers have the required information and that the jigs are delivered on time, to the right quality standards.

Providing regular reporting of progress, deliveries and issues.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential Skills:

Procurement/ buying experience

Experience of using a Procurement system such as SAP

Highly analytical

Excellent numerical skills

Able to review information & provide challenges, where appropriate, to peers

Desirable:

CIPS qualification

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
