Capability and Assurance Manager

Would you like to Lead and Drive capability development within projects and transformation in one of the UK’s Leading Defence Companies? We currently have a vacancy for a Capability and Assurance Manager at our site in Preston – the Strand.

As a Capability and Assurance Manager, you will deputise for the Head of PMO and will be responsible for capability development within the Projects and Transformation department (P & T) as well as driving assurance and delivery excellence across the portfolios.

This role will provide you with wide exposure to the IT projects within BAE over all sectors. Deputising to the Head of PMO will give the chosen applicant the opportunity to work and liaise with senior stakeholders and those within the executive team at BAE.

Your main responsibilities as a Capability and Assurance Manager will involve:

Manage the recruitment processes centrally across the P & T area – raising requisitions, developing selection processes with central recruitment, facilitating and supporting interview processes.

Drive continuous improvement leveraging best practice, lessons learned, specialist knowledge and experience within the P & T.

Use specialist knowledge and experience, alongside leveraging skills in the team, to coach and develop capabilities of delivery leads within the P & T.

Lead P & T on supporting internal / external audit (ISO Audits)

Manage internal governance forums, reviewing as appropriate to ensure fit for purpose.

Support PML (Project Management Lead) in ensuring LCM (Life Cycle Management) activities and processes are being undertaken within agreed timeframes and to quality.

Run and maintain quality controls on appropriate business processes (eg Closure process, risk management etc.)

Undertake Project & Transformation Maturity Assessment and develop resulting improvement actions.

Maintain the integrity of the BMS and respond to BMS audit requirements.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline

Project Management Qualification (such as Prince 2 or APM)

Expert knowledge of Life Cycle Management, Project Management, Change Management and concepts and techniques

Experienced in recruitment and selection processes

Practiced knowledge of project management processes for control and monitoring

Proven track record, of delivering projects within defined delivery processes

Desirable:

Practiced knowledge of the regulatory framework including HSE, Export control, ITAR security and Product Safety.

You will have the ability to lead and motivate teams, resolve issues and articulate and champion a PM&C culture.
