BAE Systems Training Services Group is expanding and we are looking for experienced and talented software engineers to join us to support the development of software across a wide range of state of the art products.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate software development experience using high level languages from initial analysis to delivery. Experience of Virtualisation / containerisation technologies would be advantageous.
BAE Systems is the largest provider of warfare training systems to the Royal Navy with more than 50 years of experience.
BAE Systems provides total support for mission success – ranging from preparation and training programmes that are designed to ensure military personnel and equipment are ready for deployment (Readiness) through to maintenance and enhancement services (Sustainment).
Your main responsibilities as a Software Engineer will involve:
- Software development of solutions.
- System Test and Integration Activities.
- Design of technical solutions.
As part of the software team, you will be expected to work closely with team members, and support the team and/or project leadership in daily activities.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
- Software development lifecycle
- Using some of the following languages: Ada, C, C#, Java, Scripting Languages.
- Object-oriented design/development including UML.
- Experience of virtualization infrastructure and technologies, including containerisation and provisioning automation.
- Knowledge of Networks, WAN protocols, switch and router configuration.
- Knowledge of the management of deployed systems, security and account management and automated software deployment.
You will be able to:
- Operate effectively as part of a larger team, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Ability to support a number of concurrent activities including both new and legacy products.
- Reliably estimate and plan their own work, understanding budget and schedule constraints, and accurately report progress.
- Actively support other team members or other teams and are able to provide constructive feedback.
- Take a proactive approach in looking for improvement opportunities.
